At Língua de Gato, we truly love our senior patients whom we affectionately call our “oldies.” The senior stage of a pet’s life is just as important—if not more—than their younger years.
At this stage, their needs change significantly and age-related conditions may begin to appear.
During this consultation, we perform a general check-up, including blood pressure measurement and, if necessary, we may recommend additional diagnostic tests such as blood work, ultrasound, echocardiography, among others.
We pay particular attention to a thorough orthopedic and neurological examination, as this is often when conditions such as osteoarthritis, cognitive dysfunction and neuropathic pain begin to develop. Some signs can be very subtle, such as “my Romeo is less active” or “after lying down for a long time, he limps when getting up.”
