Língua de Gato was born from the desire to create an animal healthcare space that would be more than just a clinic, we wanted it to be a second home for our patients and their owners. A place that invites you in and where everyone can feel cared for and special.
We are more than veterinarians, veterinary nurses or veterinary assistants — we are family.

Rita Fonseca
Veterinary Doctor
She is our beloved Clinical Director, who is as much a leader as she is a friend!
A compulsive dreamer and an optimist by nature, already with almost 20 years of veterinary experience under her belt. She graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Technical University of Lisbon and realised that the path she wanted to take in life had to be accompanied by these wonderful four-legged creatures! At the veterinary practice, her greatest passions are Cardiology, Dermatology and, mainly and more recently, Veterinary Management. The furry love of her home is Grilo, the big yellow cat who loves naps and cuddles, especially from her two children, Mariana and Gonçalo.

Our petite curly-haired doctor with the big smile!
Having graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences, she developed a passion for Internal Medicine and Feline Medicine, as well as for Veterinary Marketing and Communication. Travelling with those she loves most is what fulfils her most, but she always returns with a huge smile to the place where she has always belonged: Porto. A film fan, she never misses the annual Oscars night, and if asked what she needs for the perfect Sunday afternoon, she replies without hesitation: a film night at home, a nice hot cup of tea and a purring cat on her lap!
Diana Simões
Veterinary Doctor
Meet the best vet surgeon in town!
She graduated from the Vasco da Gama University School in Coimbra and knew from an early age that veterinary medicine was her passion. Her main areas of interest are Geriatrics, Surgery and Dentistry, she adores her elderly patients and feels completely at home amongst scalpels and drills. Originally from Ribatejo, she fell head over heels in love with Porto upon seeing a metropolis brimming with culture and such a wealth of gastronomy! Yes, because although she believes she was a cat in a past life, we believe she was certainly a Michelin-starred chef: the food she cooks is to die for!
Sara Alves
Veterinary Doctor
She graduated from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, where she realised she wanted to become a veterinarian specialising in companion animals. She considers herself a dog person, although she is becoming increasingly fond of cats. Her areas of interest are Dermatology, Imagiology and Internal Medicine.
They say patience is one of her greatest virtues and we can confirm it: she’s the one who manages to calm the team down on the toughest days!
She is happiest on sunny days, ideally with a book, an indie rock playlist or one of her favourite people!
Helena Barros
Veterinary Assistant
She is our incredible stock manager — if anything is missing, she’s the one to talk to! She completed her studies in Viana do Castelo and finally feels fulfilled doing what she has always dreamed of: working with our furry friends. She moved to Porto in search of new opportunities, but whenever she can, she heads back to Alto Minho to enjoy the peace and nature of her hometown. She loves to travel and can never say no to a good summer festival — for her, sunshine, great music and friends are the perfect combination for a well-spent evening

Veterinarian Assistant
She is Dr Diana’s right-hand in her surgeries and is undoubtedly the one who speaks English best in our clinic! From an early age, she has loved caring for our little four-legged patients. Felines hold a special place in her heart, and she is the proud owner of five: Snoop, Daisy, Flappy, Ozzy, and Mishka! She loves being in the comfort of her home, reading a good book, watching a good TV series or getting lost in her computer games!

Veterinarian Assistant
Our vet assistant who handles all the lab tests! She completed her vocational training as a Veterinary Assistant, Animal Grooming, and Animal Rehabilitation Technician, where she discovered the career she’d always dreamed of pursuing. She believes there’s no better feeling than helping an animal feel safer and more comfortable during its visit to the clinic. Curious and dedicated, she enjoys learning something new every day and sees every challenge as an opportunity to grow. She also loves to travel and spend quality time with the people she cares about most, play online video games with friends and relax by watching videos on YouTube. Her biggest goal is to win over one snout and a pair of whiskers at a time, day after day!
